Siren's Call
A downloadable Visual Novel for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Note: This is a free, public beta for Siren's Call: Escape Velocity
Siren’s Call, Florida, 2011, 60 miles north of Cape Kennedy
The final days of your adolescence are coming to a close…
Having solved the strange and terrifying mysteries of this quiet beach town, you have finally found the time to relax with your friends. In the two weeks since your adventure ended, the six of you have mostly cherished your time together—your spirits wafting beautifully on the precipice of adulthood.
Even so, all good things must end.
With only one day left in Siren’s Call, all that’s remains is for you to pack your bags and say goodbye to them.
Don’t leave without making sure they know how you really feel. Only then can you finally be satisfied with what’s to come.
Judith, the exceptionally sweet (and extraordinarily intense) sovereign of Siren’s Call;
Andi, the sovereign’s sassy twin sister whose strength and spunk speak volumes on their own;
Ashton, a hero in training whose sizable fist is matched only by the size of his heart;
Emil, the once timid boy turned man who will not stop until he reaches absolute perfection;
and Violet, waiting patiently as always.
There's a couple others too...I guess.
* 7+ hours of Visual Novel Gameplay with dire consequences for how you choose to spend this final day of yours.
* 55 journal entries and and 60 unlockable gallery images for those who want to explore everything this town has to offer.
* An original story centered on saying goodbye to friends rather than saying hello to strangers.
* A dynamic, evocative soundtrack made by The Pocket Protectors meant to perfectly capture the feel of central Florida music.
* A cast of lovely characters that only want what's best for you.
The Siren's Call Fan Pack!
You can also download a Fan Pack for Siren’s Call! I would advise against looking at it till you beat the game, because there are spoilers aplenty. But I too like to live dangerously, so do as you wish.
A little about me:
My name is Jacob Cumiskey. I am the head writer, sole programmer, and director of Siren’s Call. As a native Floridian, I put a lot of myself into this game, but always viewed it as more of a personal project to help me make sense of the world rather than anything other people would actually be interested in.
I have never been happier in my life to be wrong. The fact people have found value in this little VN of ours means more than I can even begin to articulate, and I hope your experience with it either has or proves to be worthwhile.
While Siren’s Call is free and always will be, you can support our team by buying this fan pack! It has 13 HQ wallpapers, 30+ original songs composed just for this game (7 of which were unused in the game itself), a development booklet highlighting how all this came to be, and a spin-off 30,000+ word short story written by my co-writer (and best friend) Cory Nungesser.
You also have my eternal gratitude. Support like this will help us make more games in the Siren’s Call universe, so it is very, very appreciated.
Siren’s Call Development Booklet:
This is a digital booklet that contains both concept art and my personal notes on what inspired the creation of Siren’s Call. If there are parts of the game you’re still curious about, this is a good place to look.
HQ wallpapers:
13 wallpapers for your computer to remind you of your trip to Siren’s Call.
The Siren’s Call Official Soundtrack:
30+ songs, all original, with music composed by The Pocket Protectors and lilyxjorge.
Macaron Mayhem:
This is a side story set in Cory Nungesser’s Baker's Paradise series of comedy mini-novels, featuring Judith and Oliver as they join the secret-agent-baker John and his possum-haired friend Dan for some absurd adventures. If you wanted something a little lighter after the intensity of Siren’s Call itself, this is the perfect pallet cleanser. You also get to see Cory’s take on these characters as well, which is a cool thing by itself.
You can access all of these by going into Siren’s Call’s Fan Pack folder after downloading.

Hey, the Linux version isn't opening! It gives me some errors. I'm not sure why.
```ibva error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/iHD_drv_video.so init failed
[8184:0903/221142.778911:ERROR:sandbox_linux.cc(377)] InitializeSandbox() called with multiple threads in process gpu-process.```
Oh dang, that's no good.
I have a theory as to why this crash happened, but I need you to try something for me first so I can confirm my suspicions. The Steam version of the game is slightly different for linux in terms of it's construction. Could you try downloading the Steam version here (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1915740/Sirens_Call/) and tell me if you get the same error. If you don't, then I know for sure it has something to do with the .sh file (or lack of one) for this version, but if not, it might be something else I need to look into.
Happened on both unfortunately D:
Thank you for letting me know though; it's hard getting feedback for the Linux builds in particular, so thank you for letting me know you ran into these errors. Also, is it the most recent version of the game you are running?
Yeah, both this one and the Steam version...
And I get you! Linux is rarely used haha `^^
Alrighty, I still think I know what the issue is thankfully. I'm going to try and upload a new linux version of the game to here tonight when I get off work and see if that works out for ya. Until then, I'll make the old, 1.00 version of the game available on the store page and we'll see if that works for the time being.
Alright!! I'll update you! Thank you so much for the fast reply and fast fixing! It's not for granted💖💖
So itch won't let me actually upload the most current update of the game, because it passes the 1.0 GB limit, but I THINK I found the issue with the old linux build.
Ideally, this version of the game should work based on what I know about that error. If it doesn't, please let me know if the 1.00 version worked in any regard, because that's will help inform the next steps i'd need to take. I'm sorry it's been so buggy though.
More pleassssseeeeee
WOW - I had no idea what kind of VN I was getting into, and I’m glad I didn’t - what a ride!
Hoping to see more VNs from you in the future. :)
More will be coming! I promise. :) I'm glad you enjoyed. n_n
